It’s the start of fall, and dealers are launching new models. What better time to purchase a car than now? Once the weather starts to cool down, car sales begin to skyrocket! Prices of automobiles decrease, which is very beneficial for people who want to get more bang for their buck. Usually, price drops occur when car companies launch their new model designs for the new year. Although this may happen throughout the year, the most popular time is between August and September.
When the year is coming to an end, the production of newer models occurs. This helps prepare people for the upcoming year. Smart business tactics if you ask me. Now, what do dealerships do with the older models? Well, as you may know, they have end of the year events. This gives them an opportunity to push the sales on the older models to get them out of the way. Dealerships will go as low as $5,000 less than the MSRP price just to make the sale happen. End of the year sales usually offer the best incentives because of increased inventory, due to the production of newer models.
Although there may be pressure on car salesmen, manufactures will usually offer bonuses when a dealer reaches a certain amount of sales. Therefore, some dealers won’t mind receiving a loss for a sale. They know they will make up for it by reaching their quota. Some people may get sucked into buying an older model car, which is completely fine because you are getting a great deal on the purchase. But, some people will insist on buying to newer model, regardless of the offering price just so they can be one of the first to have the hot new car of the year. Whatever your reasoning may be to purchase a car, make sure you have done your research on the dealership you will be going to, just so you know what you will be getting yourself into. Happy Shopping!
Great advice. As much as I hate to let my current car go, it’s getting to the point in which I do need new one. I didn’t know that car dealerships lower their prices towards the end of the year. I will remember this when I’m ready to purchase a new car. Waiting a bit longer is worth it if I’m going to save money. Glad I found your blog.
